Government Polytechnic, Ramanagara

Government Polytechnic, Ramanagara was started in the year 2007-2008. The institution presently functioning in an integrated environment at the newly constructed building of Government Engineering College in a sprawling campus of 19 acres in Ramanagar.

The institution is AICTE approved Government institution and comes under the purview of Directorate of Technical Education, Karnataka.

It was the first institution established after the formation of the district in the year 2007. At present, the Polytechnic is wholly run by the Government of Karnataka and comes under the purview of Directorate of Technical Education. This is one among the newly started institutions by Government of Karnataka during the year 2007.

1. CCTEK

Center for Continuing Technical Education in Karnataka (CCTEK) functions as an autonomous governing body. It contributes to technical education programs in the field of computers and information technology and other areas. The target group comprises of community people, physically handicapped, socially backward people and women etc.

Subcenter of CCTEK at our institute is housed within the polytechnic. The funds generated can be used for the overall institutional development. The decisions regarding CCTEK activities are taken and coordinated at the polytechnic level by institution Program Implementation Unit (PIU). CCTEK has organized many short-term training programs and will continue to do so.

Presently CCTEK is handled by Mrs.Jayaprada G R, Lecturer in Computer Science & Engineering Department.

2. ALUMNI

Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress and working together is a success” Today’s students are tomorrow’s alumni. Alumni Association of GPT, Ramanagara was started in the year 2012 with an aim of developing the institute. The principal is honorary president of the association and supports all alumni activities.150 old students enrolled as its members. Annual meet of alumina arranged at the institute.

3. ISTE

Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Institutional Chapter has been established in our institute in the year 2012, under the chairmanship of the principal, with the objective of conducting short-term training programs to upgrade technical knowledge of the faculty.

Indian society for technical education (ISTE) Student Chapter has been established in our institute in the year 2013 with the objective of conducting technical talks/ seminars/workshops/guest lectures etc. to improve the technical knowledge of the students.

Sri M Shankarappa, Selection Grade Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering is working as chapter secretary & faculty advisor.

4. NSS

It is a permanent youth programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Department of Technical Education, and is supported by Government of Karnataka. The main objective of the scheme is the development of student personality through community service and its motto “Not me but you” — it upholds the need of selfless service and also a consideration for fellow human beings.

Government Polytechnic, Ramanagara has two NSS units. NSS Unit – I, NSS Unit – II. The NSS units render social service work in nearby villages, campus cleaning, tree plantation, blood donation camp, health awareness campaign, aids awareness, disaster management programme. Two special annual camps were organized at Kengal and Revanasiddeswarabetta and various talks on core rural issues was delivered.

Sri. Ramanjeyalu and Smt. Shilpa M Lecturers in the department of Electronics & Communication Engineering are working as NSS officers.

5. WOMEN CELL

The Committee on Women’s Security, Welfare & Grievance Redressal is established to proactively take up women’s issues to ensure safe and secure women friendly atmosphere in their workplace and in the institutions. Accordingly the committee on Women’s Security, Welfare & Grievance Redressal and Proctor system was setup on 22-02-2013 under the chairmanship of the principal.

Smt.Yamuna M, Lecturer in the department of Electronics & Communication Engineering is working as secretary of this committee.

6. SPORTS

Government Polytechnic, Ramanagara gives equal importance to sports and fitness programs. Our students not only participated and won prizes in state level polytechnic sports meet held at various places in Karnataka.

Our institute organizes various sports events including both indoor and outdoor games for both boys and girls students, in connection with sports day celebrations.

The sports association of our institute is managed by the young, enthusiastic, talented sports secretary, Smt. Savitha S, Lecturer in the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, who takes care of not only sports but also physical well being and mental illness of students with specific programs.

Government Polytechnic, Ramanagara

A well-organized Placement cell is working at Government Polytechnic, Ramanagara, who continuously monitors the employment potentials and arranges the campus placements for the students. The faculties from all the departments also support the smooth running of the placement process.

The cell acts as a liaison between the industry and students in order to fulfill their ambition in getting the right job and at the same time provides the industry the much needed fresh talents for the growth.

The pool campus interviews for the final year students were encouraged. Many of our students have been selected for companies like BEL, Toyota Kirloskar Motors Ltd., Mamdo Company etc. To help students to achieve their career objectives, systematic exposure to higher education was also provided.
