These technicians examine and analyze body fluids, tissues and cells. They look for bacteria, parasites and other microorganisms. People in this field use automated equipment and sophisticated instruments capable of performing a number of tests simultaneously. Medical technologists work in five major areas of the laboratory i.e. in Blood Banking, Clinical Chemistry (chemical analysis of body fluids), Hematology (blood related), Immunology (study of immune system) and Microbiology (study of bacteria and other disease organisms).
