D Banumaiah’s Polytechnic, Mysore

Dharmaprakasha D Banumaiah’s Polytechnic, Mysore was started in the year 1983 and is functioning at Udayagiri extension, Mysore in a sprawling campus of 2.1 acres. The Polytechnic is affiliated to AICTE, New Delhi and Grant in aid with Karnataka State Government.
The overall intake of 300 students caters to the need of socially & economically backward class students. The admission rules and procedures are reserved and standardized by the Management and Directorate of Technical Education, Karnataka state norms.
Inspite of academic interests, the students are also encouraged to exhibit their talents in sports activities, such as indoor and outdoor games, cultural activities and national integration, mutual cooperation etc.,
The trust dedicates itself in serving nation by contributing young, dynamic, energetic and industrious engineers from rural region of the district.

Library facilities:
The term “Library” has itself acquired a secondary meaning – “A collection of useful material for common use”. The library is the collection, organization, preservation, and dissemination of information resources. A library is a place, which updates the knowledge & urges us to take innumerable paths. The institution has a well-equipped library containing more than 6500 technical books including 2500 reference books. There is a separate section for SC/ST category which caters to the needs of SC/ST students. There is a separate reference section for students having Reference books, Technical Journals, Magazines & Newspapers.

Laboratory facilities :
The institution has well equipped with modernized laboratories, such as Science laboratory, Electronics laboratory, Computer laboratory, Automobile engineering laboratory, Electrical engineering laboratory, Mechanical engineering laboratory and other Labs related to Civil Engg.etc. The final year/6th sem. Students of Automobile Engineering are being given driving practice. Necessary steps are also taken to provide four wheeler driving license to the interested candidates.

Sports activities :
Inspite of academic interests, the students are also encouraged to exhibit their talents in sports activities, such as indoor and Out door games. The winners are rewarded suitably. Necessary encouragement will also be given to such students, qualifying to take part in the Inter-Polytechnic Sports Meet. Mean while required facilities are also provided.

Cultural activities :
Apart from Academic and sports activities, students may also take part in the cultural activities, prominence will also be given to the students to compete, both at the institution level and inter Polytechnic level.

NCC & NSS :
To instill the spirit of National Integration, Mutual Cooperation and to spread the message of Unity in Diversity, students can join NCC and NSS, at nearest CPC Govt. Polytechnic.

The placement cell of the polytechnic is active, working hard, largely responsible and committed to the identification and catering to the need of training for students by conducting career guidance program so that they are able to develop a good personality. We assist them to find the right job and help them place in right companies. We realize that in order to convert a raw student into an employable Diploma Engineer with several behavioral attributes like good communication skills, developing a positive attitude towards work, understanding of moral and ethical values in addition to the development of technical skills. Motivating the students to get aware of local and global economic scenario, local and global cause for concerns like global warming, environmental pollution, population explosion, health and safety issues to industrial and R&D trends, prediction of future technologies etc. A blend of such interpersonal skills, awareness and the essential technical training they get in their course of study makes them an ideal candidate suitable for employment and service to the nation.
