This Polytechnic is a Government institution situated in Chamarajanagar and it was established in the year 1984. The institution is located in a sprawling campus of 27 acres.

At present, the Polytechnic is wholly run by the Government of Karnataka and comes under the purview of Directorate of Technical Education. This is a highly reputed institution and is a recipient of various projects like Direct Central Assistance Scheme of Government of India, World Bank Aid for the development activities, State Government Finances, MODROBS from AICTE, Community development through Polytechnics, Up gradation of existing Polytechnics Scheme,  Women’s Hostel from MHRD, CCTEK etc.

Campus:

The key infrastructural facilities of the polytechnic include:

• Boys hostel having the capacity to accommodate 90 inmates located behind to the institute.

Library
 The library is the treasure of knowledge and heart of the institution. Government polytechnic library, Chamarajanagar started in the year 1984 with a small collection and now grown up well with the collection of 17957 books.The library contains reference books, few general books, maps, videos and technical textbooks. The library has subscribed technical magazines such as industrial product finder, digital, Linux, science reporter, electronics for you, raw building materials and construction world, general magazines such as competition success review, wisdom, spardha spoorthi, sports star etc.. and provides 4 English newspapers and 4 Kannada newspapers to its reader i.e; students and staffs.

The arrangement of books is subject wise.Each student can borrow two books for the period of 15 days.
For SC/ST students a separate book bank is allocated and SC/ST students can borrow 2 books from this book bank scheme.

The library has sufficient space for the students to refer the books and reading.The reprography facility is provided to the readers.

Hostel
Separate hostel facilities for boys & girls with well spacious rooms, homely cooked food, clean toilets & washrooms.
