Paramedical in Medical Lab Technician
Medical Laboratory Technology is an integral part of the medical care system. Clinical laboratory testing is crucial to detecting and diagnosing diseases. Medical laboratory personnel work behind in the scenes, running the tests to help doctors diagnose illnesses and make decisions about patient treatments. These technicians examine and analyze body fluids, tissues and cells. They look for bacteria, parasites and other microorganisms. People in this field use automated equipment and sophisticated instruments capable of performing a number of tests simultaneously. Medical technologists work in five major areas of the laboratory i.e. in Blood Banking, Clinical Chemistry (chemical analysis of body fluids), Hematology (blood related), Immunology (study of immune system) and Microbiology (study of bacteria and other disease organisms). They also work in the areas of cyto technology (study of human tissue), phlebotomy, urinalysis, coagulation, parasitology and serology.
