Government Polytechnic, Afzalpur

This Polytechnic is a Government institution situated at Afzalpur and it was established in the year 2007-08. The institution is located in a sprawling campus of 5 acres.

At present, the polytechnic is wholly run by the Government of Karnataka and comes under the purview of Directorate of Technical Education. This is a highly reputed newly started institution and is a recipient of various projects like Direct Central Assistance Scheme of Government of India, State Government Finances, Women’s Hostel from MHRD etc..

This institution has a sanctioned intake of 60 students. Many of our passed-out students are well placed in different Central /State Government Departments, Multinational Companies, Public/Private Sector industries, etc.

As per 2001 census, Afzalpur taluk constitutes 52% of the male population, 48% female population and 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

In a recent year, a high power committee was established by the government of Karnataka to look into the reasonable imbalances in the state popularly known as Nanjundappa Committee. It has been found that Afzalpur is one of the most backward area as known by this committee. And its ranking under this committee is 170.

Because of the basic cause of long economic stagnation, there is lack of deficiency & internal network availability is low.
