Government Polytechnic, Chintamani is an AICTE approved institution run by Government of Karnataka and coming under the purview of Directorate of Technical Education. The institute is rendering yeomen services to the citizens of Chintamani and surrounding areas by offering three years diploma program in various engineering and non-engineering courses. The training is rendered by well qualified dedicated staff with a supportive infrastructure.

NSS Activities
It is a youth programmed under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Department of Technical Education and is supported by Government of Karnataka.
The main objective of this scheme is to develop student’s personality through community service and its motto is “Not me but you” — it upholds the need of selfless service and consideration towards fellow human beings.
Government polytechnic-Chintamani has one NSS unit.
The NSS unit renders social service in nearby villages, campus cleaning, tree plantation, blood donation camp.
Sri. Shane Gowda, Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering is working as NSS officer.
Sports
Government polytechnic, Chintamani aims at improving physical ability and skills of the students by organizing sports events. This may serve as a platform for the students to exhibit their sports talent. Students of our institute have also participated in sports competitions at the state level and won prizes.
The sports cell is mainly aimed at motivating students towards sports which may result in accepting and managing the pressure, accepting new challenges, maintaining mental and physical stability. This leads to overall development of the students.The sports cell is managed by Mr. Murali Krishna, Lecturer in Department of Civil Engineering, who is interested in developing sportsmanship among the students.
ISTE
ISTE (Indian society for technical education) is a premier national society for teachers and students of National Technical Education System. One of its major motives is to assist & contribute to the production & development of top quality professional engineers & technicians needed by industries.
More than 75% of surrounding villages of Chintamani depends on agriculture. The technical skills that assist them in that field are in high demand. With these motives CDTP was introduced in rural areas to cater the needs of rural youth in this region.
CDTP of our institute is offering following courses at our institute and extension centers.

Sri H.T. Amaranath, Sl. Gr. Lecturer in Electrical & Electronics Dept is working as Internal Coordinator of CDTP.
Subcenter of C.C.T.E.K. at our institute is housed within the polytechnic. The funds generated from the programs run by CCTEK can be used for the overall development of the institution.
The decisions regarding CCTEK activities are taken and coordinated at the polytechnic level by a committee comprising of Principal, all the department HODs and senior faculty. C.C.T.E.K has organized many short-term training programs and will continue to do so.
Sri. Venkata Reddy K.V Selection Grade Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Department is working as CCTEK Manager.

A well-organized placement cell is working at Government Polytechnic, Chintamani, which continuously monitors the employment potentials and arranges the campus placements for the students. The faculties from all the departments support the smooth running of the placement process.
The cell acts as a liaison between the industry and students in order to fulfill their ambition in getting the right job and at the same time provides the industry the much needed fresh talents for the growth.
Career guidance programs and lectures from industry expert are arranged to give students exposure to the technical and soft skills needed by the industry.
