Government Polytechnic, Gajendragad

The Government Polytechnic, Gajendragad had been established by Government of Karnataka in the year 2007-08 vide GO No:ED:174: yok 2007 dated: 23rd July 2007(ED:107:sweemer(Unique) 2007) to meet the needs of meritorious rural students. This institution is imparting quality technical education to meritorious rural youth. This polytechnic exploits the rural talents through technical education and need-based training programmes.

Our institution is located on Hubli-Hyderabad State Highway no. 06 in Gadag district. Gajendragad is a small town with a population of 40,000 in Ron Taluk of Gadag district. The main occupation of people is agriculture and weaving. Many granite industries exist in and around Gajendragad.

The intake for the above engineering courses was enhanced to 60 by AICTE, New Delhi vide letter No:770-53-220/NDIP/2007/SWRO dated 1st of June 2009. The MHRD, New Delhi has sanctioned administrative approval to start Community Development through Polytechnic scheme in 2009-10. The institution has well-established building and workshop in a sprawling area of 5.04 acres. It has fully equipped laboratories in all the departments.

This institution was inspected by EVC Team of AICTE, New Delhi on 5th and 19th March 2013. Based on the inspection report, the AICTE has recommended the Government of Karnataka to start two new diploma courses viz Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Commercial Practice with a sanctioned intake of 60 vide letter No: AICTE/SWRO(Karnataka)/Sub-mission scheme/Govt. Poly/2013-14 dated 30th April 2013.

This institution has sent a proposal to MHRD, New Delhi for starting of Community college through Hon’ble Principal Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka. Three batches of students have passed out from this institution till date.

Approximately 80 students are admitted to reputed engineering colleges for their higher education through lateral entry. They are placed at top ranks in DCET conducted by KEA, Banglore.

The institution has active Training and Placement Cell through which many students are placed in reputed industries such as Jindal Steel Works Pvt. Ltd., Shantala Power Ltd, Shetkar Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd. and many more.

The career guidance programme will be organized every year for the final year students covering the following topics.

Leadership.
Team building.
Positive thinking.
Motivation.
Interviewing skills.
Entrepreneurship.

The experts from industries will be invited to deliver technical talks on the latest technology to benefit the students of different courses.
