Dr. TMA Pai Polytechnic, Manipal

Dr. TMA Pai Polytechnic, Manipal was established in 1985 to cater to the youth around Manipal-Udupi who faced difficulties to continue their education after 10th standard due to various reasons. The Polytechnic was started to provide career opportunities to these young people.
The Polytechnic is named after the great son of Udupi District Dr. T. M .A. Pai (1898-1979), Physician, Banker, Educationist and the “Maker of Modern Manipal”. The Polytechnic is managed and run by Dr. T.M.A. Pai Foundation, Manipal.
The unique experiment of starting an educational institution on a co-operative basis was the brainchild of Dr. TMA Pai.  As technical and vocational education was close to the heart of Dr. T.M.A. Pai, the Polytechnic has been named after him to perpetuate his memory.
This Polytechnic is recognised and approved by All India Council forTechnical Education, New Delhi (AICTE) and affiliated to Board of Technical Education Bangalore. To accommodate its ambitious growth initiatives in its silver jubilee year the Polytechnic has moved operations to a new three storey building consisting of 3 blocks measuring 1,08,600 sq.ft. in addition to a workshop area measuring 92000 sq.ft. It houses hi tech computer labs with Individual computer to each student, staff rooms and classrooms for first second and third year students for each department independently. Besides this, there is Tonse Open Air Auditorium apart from an indoor one that comfortably accommodates 500 persons. There are seminar halls for each department with the latest LCD projector, OHP, Multimedia and PA systems. This Polytechnic now has been graded the best in the state as well as the country for its infrastructure and allied facilities which are conducive to the demands of the latest in technology.

Campus
The Polytechnic is located in the University town with an area of 10 acres of land and is well connected with public transport system. The nearest Railway station is Udupi with a distance of 4 kilometers and nearest airport is Bajpe-Mangalore with a distance of 65 kilometers.
This Institution has successfully completed 25 years in providing Technical Education in Automobile, Civil, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Printing Technology.

Hostels
Our College has provided the hostel facility for the students, in the view of providing a secure atmosphere. The hostel is located in the campus. It has got good facilities and infrastructure which makes students feel comfortable and find a homely atmosphere.
Detailed thought and consideration has gone in to provide utmost comfort to the students with more personal space provided in an ideal location. The students of all programmes live together in the hostel which helps in developing a healthy and cordial relationship among them. Fiagging is strictly prohibited in the campus. The hostel has been providing the students with the following facilities: Well Furnished Rooms, Telephone Facility, Hot Water, Gymnasium, Mess, Play Ground.

Library
A well stocked library facility is available for benefit of staff and students of this Polytechnic. Presently, more than 10,000 volumes of technical books, apart from text books, technical journals, technical magazines and monthly / fortnightly magazines are provided for the use of staff and students to update and be conversant with the present state of technical knowledge. Book Bank facility is available in our library for the use of students. At present, we have 1000 volumes of technical books in the book bank section. Books are added onto this Book Bank every year to provide sufficient availability of books for the students of all semesters.
In addition, we have reprographics and documentation services available for students and staff. Encyclopedia, Dictionary, General knowledge books, Projects Beports, Bound volumes and Compact Disc are available for reference. Our library is under process for digitalization.
We are also subscribing for Magazines and Papers of general interest.

Sports Facilities
Outdoor and Indoor sports facilities are available for games like, Cricket, Volley Ball, Kabaddi, Foot Ball, Throw Ball, Ball Badminton and Shuttle Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Table Tennis.

Gymnasium
There is a full-fledged modern Gymnasium facility in the Indoor Sports Complex. Also additional facilities like canteen and internet hub are available to keep the students in the campus during leisure hours.

Training and Placement Cell is an integral part of the Institute. The Institute has provided a complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the cell. Training activities are organized throughout the year in an effort towards preparing the prospective students for the campus selection programmes. It moulds the diploma grads to join corporates. The cell is sensitized to function all through the year towards generating placement and training opportunities for the students.
The cell acts as a link for the industrial training and placement of students. The Training and Placement cell establishes contacts with industrial houses to arrange training and placement of the students. The Training and Placement cell also guides and helps the Final year students in securing jobs with their knowledge and achievements, by organizing campus interviews and exploring various avenues for their placement. The cell extends all possible assistance and provides all available infrastructure facilities to the organizations and their respective officials conducting campus interviews in the college campus.Reputed industrial houses across the country visit our Institute regularly for the Campus recruitment programmes.
