Gomatesh Polytechnic, Belgaum is run by Gomatesh Vidyapeeth, which is established and founded in the year 1960 by late H.H Bhadrabahu Swamiji, Shikshan Maharshi, a learned educationist Jain Saint with a long cherished ambition to promote and impart knowledge and to serve in general the cause of education.
The Institute initially started in the year 1982 with 3 disciplines of diploma in Civil, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering. In the year 1985 two more courses viz., Electronics & Communication and Automobile Engineering were introduced. In the year 1989 one more course Computer Science & Engineering is being introduced to train the students in the changing global scenario.
In the pursuit of achieving Shri. Swamiji’s dream of service to the Society, Shri. Sanjay B. Patil, Adhisthata, with his outstanding performance to provide self-reliant citizens, imparts value and need-based, career-oriented education to ensure the technical, social and eternal development of student community. His dynamic efforts added more technology to the Institute.
The efforts of the Management and the staff are recognized by the Government of Karnataka, Department of Technical Education, Bangalore by bringing our Institute under Grant-in-aid.
During last five years, we served the society through the help of Community Polytechnic Scheme, sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. This helped thousands of uneducated and educated common people in various trends, which help them to be self-reliant.
On this occasion we remember, all those students studied from 1982 and serving in the different post in our country and abroad, successful business leaders and well-established engineers in various fields. We feel proud of their achievements. With this, we take this opportunity to extend heartfelt wishes to all the members of the Management, Staff, Alumni and students.

We have a strong Placement Cell through which conducting Campus Interviews every year. During 2011 an esteemed organization BHEL, Bangalore conducted campus interview not only for our students but also the students of Belgaum District Polytechnics. About 1200 students of various branches were attended and about 250 students were placed.
Improving employability of diploma holder
In spite of going to higher studies of about 70% of Diploma completed students we are trying to improve Employability of diploma students by giving exposure of industrial needs, by visiting various industries and conducting entrepreneurship development programs, personality development programs, importing technical and soft skill training programs every year. By looking to the previous records we came to know that students are benefited by these programs and we will still improve it by increasing number of industrial visit more exposure to industries.
