Government Polytechnic, Chitradurga

Government Polytechnic, Chitradurga started in 2008. Mr. P Lingamurthy was appointed as the Special Officer, who day and night struggled to search good location to start and run the college. This college was started in Old Siri Culture Department situated on the side of Turuvunur Road.

The first year admission started in the year 2008, all 160 seats were filled in 3 days only. The limited staff and part-time lecturers ran this institute in the year 2008.

In the year 2009, the intake for all the branches increased to 60. All the 240 seats were filled in the year 2009.

In the year 2010, the construction of the new building started and there was full-fledged staff for all the branches. In the year 2011 well-equipped labs were developed and the strength of the students also increased. In 2012 the total college strength was 600. In 2013 the intake of students increased to 63 per branch. In the month of April 2013, our college was shifted to the new location. At present, the total student’s strength of this college is 800.
