Government Polytechnic, Turvekere

Government Polytechnic, Turvekere is a Government funded institution situated at Turuvekere, Tumkur district in a sprawling campus of 5 acres.

It was established in the year 2007-08. The Polytechnic is wholly run by the Government of Karnataka and comes under the purview of Directorate of Technical Education. This is a newly started institution and is a recipient of various projects like State Government Finances, Women’s Hostel from MHRD.

• CCTEK

It functions as an autonomous governing body. It contributes to technical education programs in the field of computers and information technology and other areas. The Minister of Higher Education is its Chairman and the Secretary of higher education is Vice Chairman. Officers of the technical education department and representatives from industry and technological university are other members of the governing body. The target group comprises of community people, physically handicapped, socially backward people and women etc.

Subcenter of CCTEK at Government Polytechnic, Turuvekere is designed to meet the continuing and non-formal educational needs of local industry, business and community at large. It is housed within the polytechnic. It is headed by the CCTEK Manager. The funds generated can be used for the overall institutional development.

Aim and Objectives:
To conduct in-service training for the teaching, workshop and non-teaching staff and also students of the polytechnic for meeting the needs of technological advancement, changes in curriculum and career advancement.

To identify the employment potential areas and to conduct competency based skill development programs.

Financial Policy:
The continuing education sub centre shall generate revenue by conducting continuing education courses, testing and consultancy services and providing services as maintenance and repair of equipment etc. This policy aims at the proper use of the generated revenue for the overall development of the institution.

The prevalence of  women in the public domain has no doubt  increased considerably in the past few decades and is increasingly at a notable pace. Women  in all spheres are increasingly feeling that they need a special mechanism in their place of work to address and alleviate their insecurity.

Hence the committee is formed on women’s security, welfare and grievance redressal, to proactively take up women’s issues to ensure safe and secure women friendly atmosphere in their workplace and in the institution.

National Service Scheme, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji’s Birth Centenary Year 1969, with pa rimary focus on the development of personality of students through community service.
