Government Polytechnic, Karwar

The institute is situated nearer NH-66 in the city of Karwar. The institute is situated on a wonderful greenish campus of 7.5 acres of land in the city of Karwar and is about 2 Km from city bus stand & 7 Km from Konkan Railway station. The institute is well connected by road, to every major city in the state.

Today, the institute offers 6 diploma courses in various disciplines such as Automobile Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Commercial Practice. Institute also runs Center for Continuing Technical Education (CCTEK) for socially downtrodden citizens. Heavy Equipment like JCB, pork lift, Proclaim, Crane etc. ,. In rural areas, our institute caters to local citizens need-based job oriented training through Community Development through Polytechnics (CDTP) assistance.
Initially, there were three branches in 1958-59 i.e., Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. Then in the year 1960, the Government boys Hostel was started with a capacity of 150 students. In 1984 Commercial Practice branch started. In the year 2000 with two new branches were started. They were Computer Science Engineering and Automobile Engineering. Now all branches of our institute have an intake of 60 students per branch.
Almost more than 10000 students have passed out from our institute and have shaped their career into a successful venture. A good number of rank holders has extended their education to B.E through lateral entry.
