A HUB for Learning – Our esteemed Government Polytechnic is the only Government institution located in the proximity of river Cauvery on the gateway of Kodagu, Kushalanagar. This college is enshrouded with beautiful picturesque which stimulates the students to the learning process. The reputed institution was established in the year 1961 under the State Government of Mysore. The college is vastly spread across 37 acres in which the mother college has bestowed 10 acres of land to the engineering college. The college has a spacious building of nearly 80,780 sq.ft.
Government Polytechnic, Kushalanagar is an AICTE approved institution run by Government of Karnataka which comes under the supervision of Directorate of Technical Education. The institute has been rendering honorable and selfless service to the society by offering three-year diploma programs in various engineering courses. The teaching and training is fruitfully imparted by the well qualified and dedicated staff with supportive infrastructure

- Library
The library of Govt. Polytechnic, Kushalanagar is a hub of information to enhance the horizons of knowledge of the students. It caters the needs of the students with a foresight to provide necessary information for its students and faculty. It has a valuable collection of more than 16,700 volumes, in which 15,700 volumes covers the technical books and 1000 books covers general. The library is well furnished and is equipped with text books, reference books, dictionaries, hand books, data books etc. In addition, the library has subscribed to 9 newspapers and 3 magazines to meet the general requirements of its users. The library also has sufficient seating arrangements to refer books and prepare notes.
Students are provided with two library cards for borrowing books. Books are issued to the students on presentation of library cards for a period of 14 days. An overdue charge of 50 paise per day per book is levied from the due date till the book is returned to the library. If the books are lost, then the borrower should replace the books of the same edition or latest edition or pay double the cost of the book after getting permission from the librarian.
SC/ST students are provided with the facility to borrow additional two books from the SC/ST book bank and use them throughout the semester.
- CENTER FOR CONTINUING TECHNICAL EDUCATION KARNATAKA
Center for Continuing Technical Education in Karnataka (CCTEK) functions as an autonomous governing body and contributes to the technical education programs in the field of computers, information technology and other areas. The Minister of Higher Education is the Chairman and the Secretary of Higher Education is the Vice Chairman of CCTEK. Officers of Technical Education Department and representatives from industry and technological university are the other members of the governing body. The target group who are benefited from the CCTEK programmes are community people, physically handicapped, socially backward, women, etc.
CCTEK – Sub Centre at Govt. Polytechnic, Kushalanagar
The sub-center of CCTEK at our college was established in the year 2011 to meet the continuing and non-formal educational needs of local industry, business and community at large. It is managed by a full-time CCTEK Manager with the assistance of supporting staff. The revenue generated from programmes of CCTEK is used for the overall development of the institution.
- COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH POLYTECHNICS
The acronym of CDTP means The Community Development through Polytechnic Scheme. This was earlier known as Community Polytechnic Scheme. It was sanctioned to our institute in the year 1999-2000 by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt. of India. It began to function from the year 2000-01. We have one main center at our campus itself and have six extension centers at various places in Somwarpet Taluk. About six thousand two hundred and fifty-four common people have been benefited by this scheme.
The resources of the existing polytechnics are suitably utilized in this scheme for imparting short-term and non-formal training programs to develop employability skills along with appropriate technology transfer and awareness programmes to the local community.
